Nope, that's what the BornAgain program is for. It takes care of all that.
All you do is launch the BornAgain program and it takes care of it all.
After that, it boots like normal from the HD. I actually had a bit of
trouble with it and ended up having to install it on my Mac emulator on my
PC and then copy it to my Duo 230, but it went without a hitch on my LCIII
(which seems a lot slower than the Duo 230 even though they're roughly
equivilent systems). Even though I don't run any programs that are 8.x
specific on it, I love a lot of the niceties that 7.5/7.6 with the
appearance manager doesn't have (like the springloaded folders. Now that I'm
used to that, whenever I use Windows I'll sit there and hold things on a
folder for several seconds before I remember that it doesn't do that).
Strangely, the 230 running 8.1 feels a lot snappier and more responsive than
my 2300c running either 8.1 or 8.6. Maybe it's the graphics difference, but
it's a bit odd :) I'd say that any 68030/25 or greater with at least 24 megs
of RAM should run 8.1 just fine, especially if its slimmed down. I got bored
one day and installed 8.1 on a Mac emu and slimmed it down to under 25 megs
disk space and right at 6 megs of RAM usage. Of course, it was without OT,
so it wasn't much use except as a word processor/games, but it was still fun
:)
