I would assume so you might know to expect delays, in the case of a multi HD
system where all extras not in use spin down. Although familiarity with your
machine and a good ear should do just as well to tell if if the drive you're
about to use is going or spun down, and if you're going to have that
annoying 3 second or so system lagout while it gets back to speed.
