Yo Peter,

You're guessing right. Usually is a loosened power plug connector
(the round thing actually you plug the ac adapter cord into on the
back) or a pinched wire in the male plug itself or the wire between
the plug and the AC transformer brick.

Nuts, and I'm looking for a working IO board for stock myself :) So
if you are pitching it for parts, contact me off list.

You'll want to try another AC adapter first (like the 45W one from a
3400) -- if same symptoms, then suspect damage to the port on the I/O
card. I'm on the road, so have to decline working on it for a few
weeks. Maybe Brian or TD at DT&T have one floating around. Usually,
you have to exchange them.

I've also done repair work on ballast controls, which can mimic this
effect -- but with your recent mishaps, I think you are on the right
trail.

paul
