My guess is that there are more people who have stock 2400's who want the G3, than there are folks who just happen to want an entire 2400 which happens to have the upgrade. Those new to the 2400 really don't know much about the upgrade and thus might not see the value of it. The other group of possible buyers are those who want the G3 and wouldn't mind having a spare 2400 for parts and backup. That group is likely to be the smallest of the three. In sum, the pool of possible bidders for the G3 is probably about half of all those having one, whereas the pool of bidders who already have a 2400 and will buy your entire 2400 just for the G3 is probably much smaller.

What I was going to do prior to my 2400's untimely demise, was downgrade the computer down to it's stock drive and motherboard and part out the G3 and all of the zillions of accessories I had accumulated. Very high hassel factor, but if you have to get top dollar for it, I think that's the way to go.
