For each account, we only forward the individual acct to another email address. While our mail servers can forward and alias entire domains, we dropped that "feature" for just the reason you cite: all unknown emails need to bounce so you don't get flooded by the bastards. Bouncing them back to a point of origin (if it isn't forged and actually exists) is one way of letting the hostmaster of that server know she/he has a problem. Oh, and once we identify a nasty little IP that sends more than one SPAM message, we block the entire subclass at the routers -- I am thinking of blocking entire countries at this point, as we don't have business partners in .ck, .hu, or even .jp -- it seems those are the worst. Then again, I want to play nice with the other children, so that policy is still in incubation. You should be able to ask your ISP/hosting provider to block offending domains/IPs at their router, firewall, or at least the stmp server to cut down on this -- any of the more attentive providers are no less interested in SPAM and the bandwidth it costs than you are in receiving it. Work with them and I think you'll be a happy camper! E me off list if you need more details. I'd volunteer Chuck's advice on this, too, as he works with another hosting firm on the other coast -- he may have additional ideas on combating the issue. paul ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
