Nothing prevents you from using Sherlock 1 on OS 9.1. In fact, the
Finder has been explicitly designed to remember the copy of Sherlock
you last ran, so that the command-F shortcut will bring up your
preferred version (meaning you can keep both versions around and
still get the earlier one when you want it, which is pretty much
always ;).

One annoyance is that the 9.1 update actually sought out and deleted
older versions of Sherlock, but that's easily remedied.

9.1 isn't frankly all that different from 8.6; there are a few
niceties, but once both of them have been tuned the way the 2400
requires there isn't any remaining reason to prefer 8.6. The ability
to use iTools without need of a patched plugin and receive non-modal
alerts is enough for me not to.
