Obviously false. The 2300 can use IDE drives directly.

It's an ATA drive with an IDE/SCSI adapter. Maybe the "CUSTOM" is
supposed to hint at that.

I believe it's 2GB. More importantly, all you have to do is use
a more modern driver on the disk, either from Apple or a third
party. Any capacity drive will work.
Any 2.5" IDE drive can fit into a 2300, although you may not be
able to buy a ready-made mounting bracket.
