Fellow 2400-lovers,

Please help me resist the lust in my heart for a new iBook! I want to keep
my trusty 2400 I have been happily married to for four years.

I finally got the dreaded GLOD/NLOD/click of death. I dutifully worked
through Sydney Ho's marvelous GLOD email which I had used to revive other
2400s (mine never had GLOD until now), but to no avail. Sometimes it even
bongs as if a normal boot is happening, but nothing happens. Once even, it
booted all the way up, but never would again. A few months prior to this, I
lost the cache on my Nupower G3/240 (became unreliable, causing crashes),
but otherwise it continued working. I'm guessing the cache problem is
unrelated (?)

I've removed the extra RAM module and swapped everything (in all possible
combinations) that I can get my hands on:
     - a thought-to-be-good motherboard from Tim Swan (via mac2400)
     - my original 603/180 CPU
     - my original 1.3 GB hard disk
     - a new 3.6V+ PRAM battery (actually measured 4.09 volts)
     - an i/o board from a friend's GLOD 2400

     - a screen assembly from a friend's GLOD 2400

     - a PC Card assembly from a friend's GLOD 2400

The last three items are of course suspect, since they come from a GLOD 2400
also. But since my screen has worked reliably, even recently when I got the
one successful boot, I don't suspect that. And I doubt the PC Card assembly
has anything to do with booting.

But I wonder about the i/o board. I notice that the For Sale notices on 2400
web sites and mailing lists offer all these parts in abundance except the
i/o board. I'm guessing this is the cause of many 2400 deaths?

Anyone have a known-good i/o board I can experiment with? I'm happy to pay
for it.

Any other advice?

Please help save my four year marriage to the 2400!
-Rich
