Usually in a case like this, since the drive is new (to the
machine) and will be formatted anyway, I would just try both.
Install 8.1 and run a few tests. Then format again and install
8.6 and run the same tests. The tests should include a lot of
"how does it feel" tests because you may find that there will
be no measurable difference in speed. If you do this I'd be
very interested to hear the results as I've never tried 8.6
on a Duo.
