Hello Jane: Using a custom install and using the Minimum system install; what a brilliant idea! I've always shyed away from custom installs because I was not sure what applications did what if I'd never used them before. It seems that with every system upgrade, there is some new program or app that I've never heard of before. For many of us, if its the new system, it should probably be installed. But your recommendations are just what we need. The tip about the orphaned preferences is great. I thought only windows systems had to do the "uninstall" option. As some of my kiddies say: "so cool you are". Thomas & The Kinders ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables.
