I am in the process of using an Apple airport base station with DSL to connect my 2400 to the internet.
I do not want the laptop in the same location as the DSL splitter. I would rather just have the airport base station and modem with the splitter in one location and have the 2400 at another location in the house. I'm using system 8.6 and will use an Orinoco PC card. The 2400 is not cardbus enabled. And I cannot load the software that came with the base station on the 2400. The message is that the software cannot be loaded on this computer. I do have a copy of tomeviewer. My questions are these: Software Installation 1. How do I load the software onto the 2400? 2. If I use tomeviewer, how does it work? 3. What files do I need? 4. Will it work with 8.6 or do I need a more recent system that has airport as part of the system? Positioning of Hardware 1. Will it work to just have the modem and base station connected to the splitter and then have the Orinoco card in the 2400? or 2. Will I need to have the ethernet card in the PCMCIA slot with the Orinoco card and if so does the ethernet card have to be physically connected to the base station? (note: the base station has ethernet} 3. Can I make the necessary connections without a router? 4. Does the 2400 need to be cardbus enabled? Any information will be helpful and if I can get it to work I will give the setup on list. Barry ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
