How old is your niece, and is she careful with things? How much wear and tear will she give it? Speed is fine, bus speed is wonderful, but if she's as careful as my daughter, the older case is what I'd go for. :) The school system in Tennessee has had some problems with the iBooks they've bought for the kiddies, so I've heard; too delicate for some of them. Speed doesn't work in a broken iBook. YMMV. jt
