Hello Everyone GLOD..... Well , In some cases this seems to actually be a problem. In others it just seems to be a case of re-setting the power manager and in others, taking apart the laptop and physically removing the processor or whatever that has locked up internally. I have had this problem with a 2300c. In fact it has happened several times The last time it happened the computer would not restart, no matter how long I pressed the power reset button. I took it apart, removed my hard drive and re-assembled my other 2300c that I had scavenged for parts, And I was back in business Out of curiosity I re-assembled the 2300 with the glod problem with everything except the keyboard top case and a few other plastic pieces that I don't have .plugged it into a Minidock used an external HD to boot from and, presto !! the powerbook worked. What was wrong ? I really am not sure. A colleague at school with a 2400 had a similar experience . With his 2400 dead he thought he would take apart his powerbook before he threw it out .As there are no parts for these things in Canada. Goofed around with it re assembled it without the casing and Shazam!!! it booted up no problem. It was interesting to note that at this point he put on a static wrist strap and placed the powerbook back on a static mat . Has anyone else had this kind of experience, or does someone know of an explanation.
By the way , Mr. Boucher, if you are going to take apart your 2400 be prepared for a difficult task. I have recently purchased a 2400 and it is only because of allot of info and patience that I was able to take it apart. , and have it still work once back together. From another perspective, what do you have to loose !!! Cheers Carlos ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables.
