Thanks to all for giving my post some discussion. I am the author who is pleading
for folks to give their old Macs to schools. I was surprised to find that many of
the technology folks at some of the schools grudgingly discourage taking the old
equipment. Paul, your way of getting around this is truly genius. I encountered the
same attitude at my school. While our tech person was kind enough to try and get me
setup to the net with our 2300c duo dock, there was not a lot of interest in working
on this neat machine if it did not connect the first time around.

It seems that everyone wants to just get new machines. What a waste! The research
tells us that most people only use about 20-30% of a computer's capability, so why
the rush to dump excellent machines because they are a little slower? Anyway, I just
wanted to respond back with a thank you for your attempts to rescue machines and
give them good homes. By the way, until about 2 years ago, our school was one of
those places still limping along with original Apple IIs and IIe's. We just kept
using them until they died and refused to boot or made tired, groaning, screeching
noises. These machines were in the service of kids, so I'm sure they would have
wanted to die that way.

Thanks to all on this wonderful list. You've helped me and my kiddies tremendously.
