There is an almost identical thread on the Powerbooks list. Here is a recent post: > > <snip>... I have a 6200 and a 7100 laying around doing absolutely >nothing. I'd be happy to give either away for the mere price of >shipping it, and I'd even throw in the kb/mouse, but no monitor. > >If not, you might consider donating them to your local elementary >school. Something for anyone to consider if they >have old equipment laying It might be even more worthwhile to donate your time to setting up the macs for the schools/nonprofits. We have always encouraged such donations, but found many of the schools would refuse the equipment because if it wasn't brand new (or PC), their tech person refused to work on it. When we offered to help with our time and mac knowledge, the IT people came up with other excuses, but since we had CC'd our offer to the president of the PTA, the Principal, the teachers who didn't have enough computers, and a local journalist friend, the IT people relented. If you really love the Mac -- it takes cornering the other self-interests to get your "generosity" accepted. paul vail after hours -- ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
