I have a duo 2300c with 56MB RAM and I've been having trouble getting it to work reliably, even after defragmenting the harddrive, doing a clean install of system 7.6.1, zapping the pram, rebuilding the desktop, resetting the power manager, and running utilities. <snip!> I've had an assortment of problems -- freezes/crashes at various times (when in an application or in the finder), freezes upon awakening, refusal to awaken . . . I rarely get more than an hour of use out of it without a crash <snip1> " I have exactly the same problems! In addition, my duo gives an error-message after each start-up, reporting that "an internal alias couldn't be "solved" or "removed" (it says "aufloesen" in German) My duo is a 2300c with 20MB of Ram and System 7.6. Norton couldn't find any problems as well and my battery is very weak, but still provides enough energy to save parameter ram settings (time, date etc) A few years ago I had a Performa 5200 on which I installed System 7.6. This computer showed similar problems as my duo does now. In addition more problems occurred in Netscape (the computer felt into a state of "sleep": showing no reactions to any keystrokes and the hard disc spinning for more than a minute. After I replaced 7.6 with the original 7.5.3 most of the problems (freezing in the finder etc.) dissappeared. To me, it seems that system 7.6 is the problem. Perhabs one should decide whether to stay with the antiques (System 7.5.x) or to move to the modern ages and install MacOS 8.x. I am considering to install 7.5.3 on the duo.
