I have a Duo 2300c running OS 8.6, 36MB RAM. I am trying to place a picture on the desktop through the APPEARANCE control panel. None of the desktop pictures - or patterns - I select appear when I choose the SET DESKTOP button. The selected pictures do not PREVIEW either nor do they display on the left side of the APPEARANCE / DESKTOP control panel window. I cannot get the Mac OS default pattern to display either.
