In OS 8.6 opt+shift+D evokes the Euro sign - in a single fixed font,
however, which looks rather ugly. If you want the sign to appear slanted,
bold etc. or better adapted to the respective font you use, you may point
your browser to www.zid.tugraz.at/cs/support/mac/faq/euro-fonts.sea.bin.
After installing these fonts you can create macros or define key
combinations to insert the Euro sign according to your needs. Adobe also
offers a set of Euro fonts at their site. All this should also work in OS
8.1.
