Well... perhaps not
I used to use my Duo210 with System 7.0.1 when my G3 was running 9.1. 
Biggest problem was the lack of ethernet.  I know its not such a big 
deal...
Perhaps the 2400 may start to lose as a main machine.  I swapped a 
beige g3 for my 2400 six months ago to a guy who just needed OSX.  I 
think the 2400 will live on as a portable weekend warrior though... 
at least.
