Hope someone can help me out. I have a 2300c w/40mgs ram and an additional 2mgs of virtual. I'm running it in a Duo Dock as a desktop and have an Apple 600e CD-ROM with an ID of #3 first in the SCSIchain and an Iomega ZIP 100 second with an ID #5. The ZIP has Iomega' 6.0.4 driver and the CD has an Apple driver. The ZIP is termlinated with ilts term. switch. When I boot up, the icons on the desktop at start does not recgonize the ZIP drive as it has a red X on the zip icon and I'm not sure what the cd icon should look like so I don't know if it recognizes it at that point or not. After booting up when i attempt to utilize either drive the computer doesn't recognize them on the desktop. My cables and connectors (adaptors) are new. The Apple CD-ROM is brand new as I purchased it this week (sat.) at our local recycle center and it was in a factory sealed box. The ZIP is used but it worked on my Performa 475 to retrieve files that I will place on the 2300c. The CD works on the dock if it is the only drive hooked to the scsi. When hooked up daisy chained neither drive will work and show up on the desktop. The zip will not work if it is the only drive hooked to the dock. I've changed the positions of the drives as well as changed their ID numbers to no avail. Tried the macs for dummies book and the Apple cd manual to no avail as well. Extensions are all on that need to be on and off that have no purpose. I'm a newbie to the use of a computer as well as the Duo equipment, so I'm somewhat lost at thils time. Any assistance will be much appreciated. I've been following the list for a short while not and have found it interesting as well as informative. Wish I had a 2400 as I have always wanted one since I first read about them as I would like a subnote book with a PCMCIA slot. Grat versatility. Misc. info requested: batteries? 2300 & 2400's are they the same and how can I obtain instructions for breaking into a dock? I know how to get the cover off but after that I'm lost. Thank you for the consideration.
Alan ps: I made one other request and received an answer and it was much appreciated. ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables.
