SCSI on older PowerBooks can be frustrating at times. When things don't work
right you have to go through a lot of SCSI voodoo.

You probably need to add a pass through terminator to the first device in
the chain. If it's the CD-ROM, plug in the pass-through terminator, then
plug the SCSI cable coming from the dock into the pass-through. After that,
make sure the last device has a terminator (or in your case, the Zip drive
termination is switch on since it is at the end or the chain).

This has helped me in the past.

One other thing comes to mind. Is the terminator block installed inside the
DuoDock itself. If you don't have an internal drive, there should be a
terminator plugged into the SCSI port on the logic board inside the dock.
This would be a 50 pin connector behind the motor mechanism that draws the
Duo into the dock. If you remove the lid/cover of the DuoDock you should be
able to quickly determine this at a glance.
