It certainly would, or a dedicated 10BT card for that matter. I have a 
Farallon 10BT which is no speed demon by today's standards but works 
fine for web browsing on a 2400c/180. I always use it on very fast 
University LANs so my opinion may be biassed.

I've no idea, but combo cards have never been as fast as dedicated cards.

If you browse complicated pages, a whole lot. If we are talking about 
MacinTouch or similar, your speed would also improve, but a fast hard 
drive is more determinant. Assuming you have an IBM 20GB drive or 
similar, I think the global village card is to blame for poor speed.
