Personally, if you have the RAM maxed out on the 2400 you could probably
get away with 9.1, but I always suggest to people to stay away from
anything higher than 8.6 if they don't have the G3.  I feel it bogs the
machine down. 

On the G3, how much RAM do you have?  I would say if it is more than 80
megs go for 9.1.
