I have a couple of questions about the 2400c. First, what is the
current, general, knowledge of cardbus enabling? Is there some source
of instruction on how to do it oneself?

Looks like you have been sent some good links..

That depends on which type of motherboard you have. I have one of the easy boards with
the Yellow wires ( Serial #157310GKAJN) that just need to be cut. I did this just last
week and the cardbus seems to be enabled. It works great with my firewire card
downloading DV video to imovie and works great with my Road Rocket which allows video
spanning with an external monitor. I haven't been able to get an OrangeMicro USB card
to work however. Anyone else have experience with one of those??? I also have another
2400c (15739091AJN) with one of the more difficult boards. That type I'd send to have
done if the shipping from FL to CA weren't so expensive. They charge less than 100
dollars. As you've been advised take the opportunity to have a bigger HD installed.
Maybe some one on the list can explain the difference in time between the serial
numbers to give you an idea as to whether yours may have the easy board. It's fairly
easy to check as you only need to remove the top plastic and the keyboard to get to
the yellow wires. The japanese site has good picts of the location. Research
everything thoroughly before try anything... remember... if you break it it's yours to
part out!

If one had a non-cardbus-enabled 2400c, would one still have to
"send it somewhere, and pay a lot of money" to have it cardbus enabled?

/Second, is the Service Source manual available for the 2400c? (The one
for the Duos is, but in poking around, I haven't found one for the
2400c.) If it is not, is there any other (comparable, hopefully) source
of information on disassembly (and reassembly) of the 2400?
/
I remember I found one at one site and down loaded it as a PDF document. If you can't
find it, I could send the document to you off list.

Good Luck,
Willie
