Kill two birds with one stone... disconnect your PRAM battery. This will eliminate a potentially shorted (low resistance) battery which can wreak havoc. Disconnecting the PRAM battery will ZAP the PRAM assuming you also have the main system battery removed and the AC power adapter removed.
