You may remember the past backstory on my found-in-the-trash 2300c. I sent it off to David Isla in Idaho, who thought he might be able to repair it for me, from thrift store finds he collect the purpose. Well here's his report, when he got it yesterday: "Bad news :(. I popped the screen open and found 23 of the surface mount resistors broken off. The motherboard is totally shot, the RAM and modem cards both have quite a few broken pins, the keyboard is slighty deformed, and the CPU stiffener broke when I was takeing it out to check the mobo, The plastic casing has broken clips in several places. This must have gotten wet, dropped, power surged, or something-- cause this thing is in TERRIBLE shape. the mobo would need to be replaced, the LCD also, the RAM would take about $36, and the modem about $15. Damn, I was really hoping to fix this baby up for you. But its beyond repair and only worth $5. I'm sorry about how this turned out. I'll send the HD back at no extra cost. Do you want this thing? If not, I could use the screen plastics for a friend's Duo Sorry, D.I."
unless someone out there has a broken 2300c or two they have in the closet, that they are tired of screwing around with, my hopes to fix the one I sent him are pretty much crushed. anyone by chance have anything lying around that they would want to contribute to the cause?
