>it's looks so cool! how did you paint the logo on display lid? Thanks.
I've posted this before, (so it has references to other bits) but this was the procedure followed: Paints: testors 'pactra' RC model paint. This was chosen for durability and resistance to scratching. I chose a metallic green and a flat light green. I first dismantled and sanded every case piece smooth, most likely not required with an iBook. Then I covered each with about 6 coats of metallic green. Lots of curing time and sanding between coats as well. For the lid design, I created a 'stencil' of the design with a high quality masking tape. Yes, masking tape. In fact it was very thick masking tape. Unlike a thin frisket mask I wanted a thick border... the reason will become obvious... I then laid in two coats of the flat green paint, with no sanding between coats. As the second coat was drying I began mixing in metallic green. With each coat I added more metallic green. After the last coat, the area in the stencil was fully metallic green. Then I removed the tape, and attacked it with sanding cloth. The paint had become quite thick near the stencil edges, and sanding revealed the lighter green paint beneath/mixed with the metallic green. This is what created the 'watermark/halo' effect on the lid. The sanding started with 400 grit and finished with 12000. The effect of the sanding on the metallic paint was a very high gloss shine.
