<<I used SCSI Disk Mode to successfully connect my 6100 (OS 8.1) to my duo

after I reinitialized the duo hard drive and used the skeletal OS in a

boot floppy as my base operating system. However, once I installed 7.6.1 on

the duo I have had no luck with the SCSI connection. The duo seems fine

(SCSI icon floating across the screen), but the 6100 coughs up the

following error message midway through loading the extensions: System

Error-Illegal operation "". I've rebooted with an 8.1 installation disk

while the duo is in SCSI mode, but the duo hard drives don't show up on the

desktop of the 6100.>>

I had problem connecting PB520c to PPC desktop in SCSI disk mode; I would
get error as desktop was starting up. Try this(suggested by a book I read on
Powerbook hints....not officially recommended, but works for me):

Plug the cable into the Duo(dock) SCSI port, and boot the Duo to get the
floating SCSI symbol. Then (carefully) remove the cable and plug the
appropriate end into the desktop's SCSI port, and boot the desktop computer.
After your desktop is up and running, take the free end of the cable and plug
it (carefully) back into your Duo(dock). Then use a mounting tool like
SCSIProbe on your desktop computer to mount the Duo's HD.

I didn't used to get the error in the past, but for some reason it happens
now, and this has been a useful solution for me.
