After reading about the CHB-25INT2 a few digest back (IDE to SCSI 2.5"
converter). I placed an order with Century in Japan and got it yesterday.

I am pleased to report that it works really well. I now have a Duo 280c with
a 4Gb drive (yes, probably a bit on the extravagant side for a 68k machine!)
split into 2 partitions. The only slight problem was the fact that the drive
is in fact 4.12Gb formatted and so the old HD Setup would moan that System
7.5 or 7.6 doesn't support drives over 4Gb in size and so I had to use Drive
Setup from the OS 8.0 CD.

One very good thing about the adapter is that the standard brackets fitted
on the 17mm Apple/IBM drives work with it because the adapter has got the
screw holes exactly at the same place as the 17mm drive. This is why I
selected to use the 4Gb I had instead of an older 17mm 1Gb IDE taken from a
2300c. The IBM 9.5mm 4Gb TravelStar onto the Century adapter makes a combo
that is still thinner than the old 500 Quantum SCSI but

Altogether, I'm very pleased with this new setup as the cost is not that
much higher than purchasing (not to say finding first) a 1Gb SCSI drive. It
all came to 86 (61 + 25) UK pounds including customs duty and post office
clearance fee, i.e. $125. Add the 4Gb drive for $41 and compare it to the
$125 + shipping + potential customs duty I was quoted for a 1Gb SCSI drive.
I think the choice is clear. With 4Gb on board and 32Mb ram, a Dock II with
a Thunder IV driving the Apple multiple scan 17", the 280c feels eminently
usable with 7.6.1 and RAM/Speed doubler 2 installed.

I forgot to mention but Century were helpful and quick to reply to emails.

Next project, repairing my 2300c. I'm still missing a TFT that is not for
sale at prices higher than that of a complete 2300c on eBay!
