Well, we're actually talking at least LocalTalk speed which is more like
230K. The EtherWave also comes with a driver which supposedly gets even
better performance than it does in "bridge" mode and definately works with
MacTCP.

Personally, I'm using an EtherWave with a Duo 230 and have dome some surfing
using iCab. Slow, yes, though not unbearably so and I'm hard pressed to be
certain that the EtherWave is the real bottleneck.

One more thing about the EtherWave, it is a nice small solution which
requires no additional dock.

I will agree that this is probably the best all-around solution. It does,
however, have the downside of the fact that you are now dealing with two
boxes instead of one.

Costwise, this is also probably the best solution. SCSI-capable docks seem
to be the cheapest after floppy adapters while Ethernet-capable docks
definitely command a premium price. Similarly, SCSI Ethernet boxes have
gotten cheap recently as sellers want to clear old stock.
