Hi,
I wrote a week or two ago about my two Duos not wanting to start up at all,
plugged in, or unplugged. The one did nothing at all, and the second gave
flashing horizontal amber light across the screen. I got too busy at school
to check into the problems any more, but last night I kept noticing a slight
humming sound upstairs that I could not accout for. Sure enough, this
morning I pinned it down to Duo #1 humming in its Dock, and very warm when
ejected. Funny thing is, it started right up when out, and I got ten minutes
of battery life (lots for it) before it shut itself down. I put it back in
the dock, and all is quiet for now.
Duo #2 is really scary. I tried starting it up again with the back button
several times, holding it down a while to reset the power manager, but still
the same amber flashes, and nothing else. It has started this strange
ticking, though, like the tick of a pocketwatch that stops when you pull the
power cord out. I tried starting it with just the top button (instead of
back), and got all sorts of flashes on the screen in rhythm with the tick at
the back of the Duo. The caps lock light kept flashing, too, and then a
sliver of silver horizontal stripe across the screen. Is there any hope for
either one of these Duos? Is my house in danger of catching on fire if I
leave these poor little guys plugged in?
Thanks for any suggestions you have.
Janice
