Sorry to barge into your listings but I was browsing
and came across the following posting which raised
some questions long troubling me.

(snip)
Is OS8.1 best to run on the 2300c? My local Apple
tech says a 100MHZ 2300c should be run on on 8.1. If
not, why run OS 8.5 rather than OS 8.6? I run 8.6 but
it really gets wierd on Internet Explorer. For
example, during a long session Help Ballons start
popping up and the transmissions eventually grinds to
a halt. Also, Sherlock and IE just don't get along.
Some other brain teasers:
Screwy keyboard;
On one of my 2300c's Keyboard the top line doesn't
work correct correctly for Shift but does for Caps
Lock. .
shift test: QETUO{| (alternate keys don't work =
WRYIP})
non shift test: qertyuiop[]\ (all's OK)
caps lock test: QWERTYUIOP[]\ (all's OK)
WHAT IS HAPPENING???
The problem disappears when the 2300c is in a Dock and
an external keyboard is used.
Battery drain in Duo:
The main battery will drain and eventually become
unable to take a charge if it is left in the 2300c
when the Mac is in the DuoDock with its' power off
(the Dock unplugged). I've tried this with 3
batteries. Is this normal? I've been leaving the
battery out except when needing it on the road. This
leads to the following problems which happens on both
my 2300c Macs....
Screwy clock;
I've replaced thte PRAM battery but it still reads bad
date/time when left w/o battery or power cord. But it
doesn't revert to 1904. No problem is seen if battery
left in for short periods only or if 2300c remains
plugged into AC.
Screwy Startup;
When left w/o battery or power cord, 2300cwill auto
start as if from sleep mode when cover is opened after
connecting to AC. Or will not startup unless backside
restart button is pushed.
Screwy GLOD;
If put into Dock after leaving main battery out will
sometimes go to GLOD. Remove from Dock and let sit
for a while on battery or AC, the beasts heal
themselves!
Anybody else experiance this or have any suggestions?
Once again, sorry to take your time but I thought
that you folks might enjoy these brain teasers. I'm
ready to look for the answer page and would like your
$.02 worth.
Thanks,
 Don Pruitt
