On the contrary, it's better to run 8.1 or 8.6 because of the increase of PPC code. 7.6.1 will run okay, but 8.1 can actually be faster because of the coding. I've found 8.6 to be the best compromise. It's only slightly slower than 8.1, includes Speakable Items which I really like, and runs the latest software decently. I've never had any trouble with IE, even 5, on my 2300c. >Screwy keyboard; >On one of my 2300c's Keyboard the top line doesn't >work correct correctly for Shift but does for Caps >Lock. . Duos are notorious for odd keyboard issues. Make sure the screws aren't too tight, for one. Make sure the innards are clean. >Battery drain in Duo: >The main battery will drain and eventually become >unable to take a charge if it is left in the 2300c Basically, if it's not used regularly, the battery will die. In my experience, the more often a battery is drained fully/charged, the longer it lasts. I've seen it written that batteries have a limited number of drain/charge cycles, but if you never use the battery, then the one time you want to it'll not hold a charge. >Screwy clock; >I've replaced thte PRAM battery but it still reads bad >date/time when left w/o battery or power cord. No clue here. Maybe a slightly bad PRAM battery? >Screwy Startup; >When left w/o battery or power cord, 2300cwill auto >start as if from sleep mode when cover is opened after >connecting to AC. Try resetting the power manager. All this sounds like a bad PRAM battery still.
