Well I've made some progress in that I've gotten many of these scrap duos to boot. Some of them reliably some of them not. I am having a couple of issues.
One is with ethernet. I got a a Newer Ultradock 16sce with these duos and it has ethernet on it. But the disk that came with it is wiped, the Newer website doesn't seem to have the program (which even if they did it will be a challenge to it to the duos), I'm able to get the machines to run okay with virtual memory, but is there a place to pick up the larger memory cards? The online places have pretty old dates for their duo wares. Has anyone over clocked the 2300? Batteries. I never had the charging holder with my duo, but these came with two. It seems like there were two different types of the NiMH batteries. First they have different release buttons on the front, the older ones have a switch to help you remember which are full or used, and the newer ones have a type 3 logo on them. Has anyone tried refitting them with newer cells to replace the dead ones? I think I need to do this as when I charge some of them the charger starts off amber and goes red. Some of them start of amber and go green. I take it green means a good battery and red means a bad battery. But I can't seem to find info on this to know for sure. One thing that I found, the older track balls do work in the 2300. You have to change out the whole inner bezel but it works just fine. There are mounting posts and everything. It seems that the older duos 210 - 280 have small scsi drives, and the 2300 has an ide drive. Makes it easy to upgrade the 2300. Thanks for any incite on these things. :) Jya matana, -Rob- ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables.
