But... getting back to the original poster's question... If you try to 
charge a battery in a charger that can't support it, then you will also 
get the Red LED, no matter how good the battery is.

My advice to the original poster would be to try charging the battery in 
the Duo and, if necessary, look for a later version of the charger.
