LaCie used to make little portable SCSI enclosures for their
"PocketDrive" series.  I got a flaky PocketDrive and put a powerbook
drive in it, and it worked well.  I bet other companies made similar.

Or, you could scrounge an old machine, and use SCSI disk mode :)
