Matt, The DAA is what you need with the internal modems. It should be the one compatible with UK telecom standards. Actually the appearance of these contraptions was due to Apple�s sales policies in Europe: They supplied the very same internal modem with the notebooks sold e.g. in Italy, Great Britain, Germany and had the adapter (mandatory for using the modem) licensed by the respective national telecom companies (still state monopolies in Germany and, I believe, in the UK at the time). Making the modem itself comply to national standards would have enabled the user to connect directly or via a simple mechanical adapter - but no such luck, you had to buy the very expensive DAA...
