I have a Duo270c (OS 7.6.1) installed in a dock. I just got an external
SCSI NEC 6x caddy-style CD drive that I connected to the Dock with an
HDI -DB25 connector. The drive has a DIP switch and another switch that
you can set to a number from 0-7. I assume the DIP switch is for
termination, and the other switch sets the device number.
So far, I have not been able to get the Duo to see the CD drive. I have
the drive powered up before starting the Duo. I put an audio CD in the
drive because I have heard that you can't mount any removable media
drive without media in it. Should I be using a data disc instead? When I
got the drive, the one switch was set for 5, and the DIP switch had
1,2,and 4 off, and 2 on. I've looked thru the system software on the HD
to try to find anything which will help me find and mount this drive. I
only found a Powerbook Setup control panel which pertained to the modem,
and the SCSI mode(?) which says "2". Would thid be for the internal HD.
(Dock does not have a drive.) If I had Drive Setup on it, that would
really help. However, the lowest system software disc I have is OS 8,
which is on CD. I have no system floppies at all.
