Hi Listers,
I have a 280c that has always had a problem with seeing the battery
(sometimes it will sometimes it won't). It also had the typical bad pram
battery symptoms e.g.: resetting of date and time, resetting control
panel preferences, etc. I replaced the pram battery and all of the
symptoms changed. Now the computer won't boot on the AC without the
battery in and it won't run on the battery at all. Using Battery Amnesia
the voltage is 12.79 volts and 100% charged. If I restart the computer
BA shows 12.79 volts and 9% charged. I have tried replacing the new pram
battery with the original pram battery, no change. I tried removing the
pram battery, AC power and battery for 12+ hours, no change. Have I
overlooked anything? Did I fry the motherboard?

If I fried the mb and you have a 280c or 2300 mb for sale please
contact me off list.

 Thanks in advance,
Mike McGinnis
