On my last trip back from CA, I-80 was blocked with an accident that we
(those of us stuck) were told by the State Patrol was going to take about
three hours to clean up. My setup allowed me to drive off on small farm
roads that are not on regular paper maps and get around the mess and keep on
going, which really worked for me.
Damn. Me too. Other way around though. I-99 was so blocked we were about to take I-80 to South Lake Tahoe... from Sacramento...
Luckily someone in the car was from the Sonora area, so they knew some of the State "Highways". I say "highways" because I've been on safer feeling roller coasters... still, faster'n 80.
