information. It looks like I first need to upgrade the
OS to 7.6 or 8.1, then install iCab and try it.
Downloading the OS upgrade with the internal 14.4k
modem will be a time consuming task!

If 7.6 doesn't work for you, be sure to try 7.6.1 before jumping to 8. Now it also seems to me too that iCab really is your best bet, and especially if you consider using an external 56k modem.
