Thanks for all the help. No matter what I try (including silverlining), the best I can do is see the CD ROM as "corrupt" or damaged. It will never mount. I swapped cd mechanisms to get the same problem. So, it would appear that the SCSI on this 2400 is dead. Fortunately I have 3 spare power boards to try out. : )
