Try this extension, it is an Apple extension that I modified, it should be able to recogonize, mount and even make a bootable drive from any brand CD rom. It worked well for a Panasonic and a Sony.
Make sure to remove all other Apple and 3rd party cd/ dvd extensions and place this in the system/extensions folder.
The name will be truncated so be sure it is named
"Apple CD/DVD Driver"
It turns out that the power board has a bad SCSI connection somehow. I put another powerboard on the 2400 and the external SCSI works fine. I dsont know how the connection can go bad, but I will have to take a close look at it.
