Fantastic, thanks for the very detailed answer. Your insights and time
you have taken are much appreciated.

Hi Everyone,
Mr. G. is correct here when stating System 7 has problems with HFS+
partitions but I'd like to add one detail. What he's talking about
will happen if you're trying to mount the hard disk locally (i.e., on
the Duo's SCSI port).
Since, as I understand it, Mr. Santos, you wish to connect the two
devices using your LAN, then it will work. There is one caveat,
though. System 7 can only see file names of up to 31 characters in
length and under 2 GB in size. If you have files on the eMac longer
and larger than that, you will have problems.
Why does it work? Because the Duo won't be trying to access the
filesystem directly. It will be going through the eMac's AppleTalk
mini-server and all the file requests will be translated by the eMac
to its hard disk and back to the Duo. The only thing the AppleTalk
peer-to-peer network won't do is make it possible for the Duo to SEE
all characters past the 31 character limit (but you can still work
with 'em) or manipulate files larger than 2GB (can't work with 'em at
all). Those are operating system specific limitations on the Duo
(System 7).

It has been awhile since I tried to access a OS X disk from system 7,
buy I think it will only see file that System 7 writes to the disk
everything else is unreadable. All you see is the textedit doc that
say " Where did my Files Go?"
I will have to fire up one of my duo's and see, I think I have a 210
with 7.5 on it.

Does System 7 really care if the files are sitting on Mac OS
Extended Partitions? In that repsect, does it care if the files are
sitting on a PC drive?
Do I understanding what you mean?

However,I cannot remember if the duo will not be able to read
files on the eMac, HD format issue I think.
