I think you just about mentioned the solution that I would do.  Try 
removing the battery and powering up the computer.  Then shut it down.  Insert 
the battery, and then try to start up the computer again.  See if that works.

Hi listers,
The last ime I shut down my 2300c was a few months ago. I should have
removed the battery before I left but I forgot to do so. Yesterday, I
turned my 2300c, nothing happened, no chime, no sound, no light, nothing
showing it's alive. I checked the AC adapter:it's good. Could some one
walk me through to detect what's wrong and how to fix it. Thank you in
advance.
