Speaking of power managers, and somewhat unrelated. I have read there is
a way to reset the power manager's code, and that this is only do able
by an apple tech. Anybody know more about that?

I haven't seen anyone suggest resetting the power manager
yet. I have had Duos which didn't boot come back to life
after a power manager reset.

Look for a slim button on the back of the Duo between the
foot that covers the modem and the flap that covers the
central docking connector. With the battery removed and
the AC power cord disconnected, push and hold the button
for at least 10 seconds. Then replace battery and/or power
cord, try booting again. If you don't get anything, try again
with removing all power sources, then holding the button
for up to 30 seconds. Wait for a minute or so (maybe this
part is superstition) before connecting to a power source
and try again.

Hopefully this will take care of your problem. Good luck!
