I assume you are not using an L-shaped adapter that has an ON/OFF switch for
SCSI...if you do, turn it OFF...and that you do not have a Newer Bookendz...
I have a 2400, orig processor and occasionally I get the gray screen even
when SCSI ids are set correctly...solution...shut down, don't restart,
unplug and then replug everything back in & start back up...don't ask me
why, but it ends up working...I also find that Zip drives are peculiar...I
always have mine as the last device...set to #5/with termination ON...
