Corina - most all "paint" programs save in bitmap formats, so
they will always give you more or less jaggy edges, depending on the
resolution you can set for output. On the monitor you're limited to
72 pixels per inch, so you'll see more jagged edges than in a printout.
What you want is a "draw" program, which saves in vector format, so
the resolution is independant of the monitor or printer. If you're ready
to do some serious work (and spend serious money), the two most
popular would be Macromedia FreeHand and Adobe Illustrator. You
should be able to do a lot of simple graphics with the Draw portion
of ClarisWorks, although the interface may not be as simple to
understand as the Paint part.
Using a mouse or tablet might help, especially for a paint program,
but you should be able to get by without for a draw (vector) based
program. If you don't like the shape you just drew, you can click on
the handles of the object and pull on them to change the shape.
