Hey, I'm new to the list, and I kind of hate to start the experience by begging for help. I'm pretty frustrated though so I'm going to. I have this powerbook duo 230 and I decided to take it apart for a couple of reasons. First of all, I wanted to see what kind of ram was in it because I'm planning on getting more. Also, the keybaord and track-ball are terrible. I wanted to try to fix them. After taking everything apart, detaching the keyboard and trackball unit, then re-attaching and putting everything back together, I popped the battery in, plugged the power cord in and tried to start up. Nothing happened. I pushed the power button on the back and it started making this weird noise. Kind of like when you leave the key in a toyota truck and open the driver side door. I decided to just hold down the power button, but it didn't do anything. I let it sit for about 15 mins and when I checked on it again, the battery was REALLY hot and I could feel that heat through the case. I took it apart and put it back together a couple more times but I couldn't figure out what was wrong and it still does the same thing when i try to turn it on. Any ideas? Also, I have never taken a laptop apart before and I don't really know what to look for as far as problems are concearned. If anyone can give me a generic checklist, that might be a big help (-: Thanks in advance, Ben ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
