No no, its the other way around.  When you use virtual memory it uses
part of the hard disk as RAM, which means that the hard disk is either
always spinning or frequently spinning up.

Real RAM consumes an infinitesimal amount of power compared the
relativelyp heavy spinning platters of a hard disk.
